In this fascinating book, produced to accompany Fishguard-Rosslare 1906-2006: The Official Anniversary Book, Justin Merrigan brings together a further collection of rare and interesting photographs and illustrations which celebrate over 100 years of ferry traffic on the historic Fishguard to Rosslare route. With explanatory text and captions this book will appeal to ferry and shipping enthusiasts as well as anyone interested in local history. Justin grew up within the sight and sounds of Ireland’s Dun Laoghaire harbour where the activities surrounding the Holyhead ferries soon became a fascination. The harbour was his playground and, as well as his rescue boat activities for Dublin Bay’s yacht racing, he also served as a crew member and committee member of the Dun Laoghaire branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. Initially joining Stena Sealink Line, he later worked with Sea Containers’ Dublin Port operations before joining Australian fast ferry pioneer Incat. He has travelled extensively across the ferry world and is currently with Brisbane-based Aluminium Boats Australia. Published in April 2010.
